Bears Continue With Preseason Cuts!!!!

The Chicago Bears continue with preseason cuts as they release players prior to the 8pm deadline today. QB Josh McCown confirmed to the Chicago Tribune today that he will be one of the players released despite helping the Bears defeat the Cleveland Browns 28-20 Thursday night. Other players said to be released are running back Armando Allen, fullback Tyler Clutts, and Cornerback Greg McCoy.

Max B's Sentence Upheld...

Rapper Max B looks to stay in jail as his sentence was upheld. The state of New Jersey appeals hearing upheld the conviction stemming from the Harlem rapper’s role in a Fort Lee hotel murder. Max B’S won’t be eligible for parole for another 30years (2042). He’s convicted of being behind the robbery at the Fort Lee Holiday Inn that left one man shot and dead. If the conviction is upheld, Max B won’t leave the prison until 2042. He’s so far served 3 years out of his 75 years sentencing since 2009 where he was accused of numerous charges, including murder, kidnapping and armed robbery. Though Max B was not at the hotel at the time when the murder took place, prosecutors said the rapper set up the robbery and murder, by getting his step brother and girlfriend to commit the crime. 75 years is a looong time….

Chris Lighty Dead at 44

Yesterday Hip-hip has lost another great person. Famous Hip-Hop manager Chris Lighty was found dead after committing suicide in his Bronx Apartment. According to reports, Lightly put a gun to his head and shot himself after an argument with his ex-wife Veronica. It was also reported that Lightly had owed the IRS $5 million in unpaid taxes. Lighty was the owner of Violator Entertainment. He was responsible for many careers such as Mariah Carey, Missy Elliot, 50 Cent, Busta Rhymes, and many more. Condolences and prayers go out to the family in this tragic time. He’s a great part of Hip-Hop that will be truly missed….

Rihanna To Star In Scarface Remake?!?!?

Following a semi successful acting stint in “Battleship”, Rihanna has her eyes set on an iconic role as Elvira, the female protagonist in the film “Scarface.” The role was originally brought to fruition by Michelle Pfeiffer.Universal Studios is producing the movie and there is no release date as of yet, but apparently the 24 year old Bajan is hell bent on portraying Tony Montana’s love interest. Rihanna is apparently a huge fan of the movie and Pfeiffer’s portrayal of the character. So much so that she knows all of her lines and has even perfected her walk. Friends of the star even say Rihanna has based some of her music and videos on Elvira. Elvira is a pretty iconic character. Do you guys think Rihanna can fill those shoes?

Today is one of the greatest musical talents birthday. Michael Jackson has inspired many people to sing, dance, and stand up for the right. He had a big heart that was at time misunderstood but regardless, nobody will ever come close to this man’s legacy. Today all around the world people are paying their respects to the King of Pop including his children. All three of his children went to his childhood town in Indiana yesterday along with Katherine Jackson. He will be honored in a candlelight vigil in front of the childhood house tonight. Happy Birthday MJ and R.I.P. Your legacy still carries on….

Cubs sign Castro to a big deal!

The Chicago Cubs made it official with shortstop Starlin Castro, signing a seven year deal with a club option for 2020. The contract includes a guaranteed $60 million over the duration of the deal. He will also receive a $6 million dollar singing bonus which includes $3 million up front and $1 million payments for the next 3 years. If he wins MVP or finishes in the top 5 two years in a row, $2million is added to the last year of his deal and the option. The Cubs where looking to lock down Castro before he becomes a free agent to early and believe that he would a great boost to the organization. “It’s big especially for my family. We come from very poor people and now my family is going to be better. Their lives are changing and that’s really neat.” At the age of 22 and already a two time All-Star he Castro looks to have a bright future ahead. Congrats to the young player!

Chad Johnson Can Possibly Face Jail Time For Head Butting Incident!!!!

Can life get any worse for Chad Johnson right now? Following the infamous head butting incident, Chad Johnson may be going to jail because of the arrest. Johnson allegedly head butted his wife, Evelyn Lozado during a heated argument after she found a receipt for condoms in his car and was arrested for domestic violence. Following the arrest, Johnson was fired from the Miami Dolphins, lost two endorsement deals, and had his reality show shelved. Well now it looks like those aren’t the only repercussions Johnson will face. Back in 2000, Johnson plead guilty to slapping his then girlfriend and he was sentenced to do community service. Because of that, his misdemeanor can be possibly upgraded to a felony which means he can face up to a year in jail. Let's keep praying for all parties involved in this tricky situation.

Beanie Sigel Arrested on Gun and Drug Charges!!!!

Damn Beans!!!! Beanie Sigel was locked up early this morning following a search of his vehicle by police in Tinicum Township. According to police, Sigel was a passenger in the Fusion which was driven by associate Gerald Andrews. The car was pulled over at approximately 3:00 AM when police noticed it was following another vehicle too closely and was swerving in and out of its lane. When police searched the car, they found prescription bottles, pills, a bottle of codeine and $4650 in cash. Upon further search of the car, they located a gun in the center console of the vehicle. Both men were arrested and it’s unclear whether or not they are still locked up, however Beans has to report to prison is September after being convicted of failing to pay his taxes.

Bears Cut Players Prior To League Mandated Deadline!!!!

From 85 to 75! Following league mandated cuts, the Chicago Bears trimmed down their roster over the weekend. Cuts from the lineup include rookie QB Matt Blanchard, rookie safety Trevor Colston, linebacker K.C. Asiodu, rookie linebacker Adrian Cole, defensive end Derek Walker and guard Nick Pieschel. Johnny Knox was officially put on the physically unable to perform list, which gives him six weeks to work on his recovery and Brandon Hardin was put on injured reserve.

Young Money being sued by producers...AGAIN!!

Well, we’ve heard this scenario before and it seems like this story isn’t going away. Looks like some of the producers that have done work with Young Money Entertainment are claiming they aren’t getting paid for their work. Andrew “Drew” Correa and Marcos “Infamous” Rodriguez have filed federal lawsuits against Young Money. Correa claims he had a deal with the label to do work on Tha Carter III, I Am Not A Human Being, Re-Birth, and Priceless in 2008. He was paid some royalties but then the money stop coming in. Rodriguez claims that he agreed to do work on the Tha Carter III, Re-Birth, We Are Young Money, Tha Carter IV, and Priceless in 2007. He claims the same thing happened to him as well…the royalties stop coming. Dang Wanye…

Shaq And Hoopz-Its A Wrap!!!!

After dating for 2 years, the world’s largest basketball player and the world’s largest groupie Shaq and Hoopz have called it quits. Hoopz confirmed to the Boston Globe they are no longer together. Amidst breakup rumors last year, the couple remained untethered, recently appearing together on the set of Adam Sandler’s movie “Grown Ups 2”. They were even in talks to develop a reality show based on Hoopz life, her relationship with Shaw and her desire to become a health and fitness guru. BlackSportsOnline says that the reason for the recent split is all because of Gabby Douglas, believe it or not.

"While Hoopz makes the break up seem was mutual and amicable, BSO sources says there was trouble brewing.The straw that seem to have broke the camel’s back was an argument at the Orlando Metro Gymnastics facility. He didn’t say anything while they were in the gym, but once they got to their car a heated argument took place. You could hear and see them screaming at each other. I felt bad for him." Another witness confirms the story. While the breakup did not happen that day, it appears Shaq’s annoyance with her behavior eventually led to the breakup that Hoopz confirmed with the Boston Globe.”

Terrell Owens Dropped From Seahawks!

Well it looks like the baby mama’s may have to wait! After being picked up by the Seattle Seahawks during the off season three weeks ago, wide receiver Terrell Owens has been cut. The 38 year old took to his twitter Sunday to confirm it.

“I’m no longer a Seahawk. I THANK the organization 4 the opportunity, I’m truly blessed beyond belief. My FAITH is intact & will NOT waiver.”

Owens made his debut against the Denver Bronco’s during the second week and his performance was less than lackluster. TO dropped a potential 46-yard touchdown thrown nearly perfect by QB Matt Flynn and was 0 for 5 with his catches that night. And if that wasn’t enough, Owens also dropped another pass against Kansas City Friday. Well, it’s good to see that Owens’ is remaining positive.

Lupe Fiasco Calls For A Boycott Of Spin Magazine!!!!

Lupe Fiasco has seen his share on controversy and you can now add this boycott to the list. After an article by Brandon Soderberg was entitled “Lupe Fiasco Mansplains Some More in the Video for 'Bitch Bad'” was published on Spin, the Chicago MC took to his twitter to call for a boycott of the magazine and its parent company Buzz Media. The article talks about how Lupe is constantly turning his songs into patronizing hip hop and how he hides under the guise of holding a conversation “which implicitly suggests that rap music isn't having these conversations already”. Well let me say Mr. Soderberg, hip hop is NOT having these conversations. The original video that premiered two days ago has already had young people talking about the ways the word bitch is used. Kelly as influences and says that even though the tone of his latest single is very sexual, he is extremely versatile in his music!

More on Urlacher and his knee

The reports surrounding Urlacher and his knee will not go away as much as he wants them to. On Wednesday he avoided questions about whether he went to go get treatment on his injured left knee over the spring in Europe. The Chicago Tribune reported that Urlacher traveled overseas seeking treatment that didn’t involve surgery on his knee. This doctor has seen many other athletes which some reported to be Kobe Bryant. Urlacher told the media that he did go to London in the spring when to play a game last year. He seemed frustrated about the content questions about the trip stating “It doesn’t matter what I did or what I haven’t done. This is where I’m at now. So that’s really matters.” Urlacher is still insisting that he’ll be ready for the regular season opener against the Indianapolis Colts on Sep. 9.

Lil' Wayne "Flat out....I Don't Like New York"

Lil’ Wayne has been making headlines with his recent comments of New York while Las Vegas at the Magic convention. He told relieved while being interview saying “Flat out….I Don’t Like New York.” This has cause a lot of buzz in the media with fans all the way to New York Politician State Senator Malcolm Smith. Smith held a press conference in Times Square demanding an apology from the rapper about the comments made about his city. He stated “New York is the birthplace of Hip-Hop; Millions of New Yorkers listen to his music every day. His comments outraged his local fans and residents.” Though Wayne’s comments may seem harsh, he as some reason for his feelings because of his past with the city. New York was where Wanye got arrested for his gun charge in 2007 and was convicted in 2010 where he spent his time in Rikers Island. Lil’Wanye was just recently in New York with his artist Nicki Minaj make up concert at the Roseland Ballroom. Do you think Weezy should apologize for his comments?

Shyne Po Dissed Diddy on Track!

Former Bad Boy Rapper Shyne Po had ended his truce with music mogul Diddy with a new diss track “You’re Welcome”. The two have had a deal of history together. Shyne was not just a rapper on the mogul’s label, they both were involved in a shoot-out in a NY city club back in 1999. Shyne was convicted of assault and gun possession and served 9 years in prison. He was released in 2009 and was deported later that year. Earlier this year the two made the announcement saying they’ve put aside their differences and attended Paris Fashion Week in March together. Well now with this now track it seems that truce is dead. On the track he rapped “I need to know, how my co-d called witness to sacrifice me/ Just so he can get away free, this does not comply with the streets” Shnye also gave the reason why he’s breaking this truce saying:

"Homeboy did me dirty, he knows that; he apologized. He's said he's gonna spend the rest of his life helping me get my life back, so how you don't help your man come back to America?! Don't give me any money — I don't need it — but take care of Ms. Jones. [Diddy] gave her $10K when I started talking to him, but that was it. But while we were in Paris, he spent half a million on his chick, Cassie. ... If it weren't for Wolf, if it weren't for me, things would be very different. There would be no Cîroc deal, he wouldn't be worth close to a billion."

Mama Said Knock You Out-LL Cool J Beats The Crap Out Of Home Intruder!!!!!

Note to self, never rob LL Cool J’s house! Police were called to superstars home early this morning following a report of a home invasion. The suspect entered the rappers’ home about 2am thinking no one was home. Wasn’t he in for a shock when LL heard the commotion, came down stairs to investigate and found the suspect. LL took matters into his own hands and beat the dog shizzle out of the intruder and held him until the LAPD arrived on the scene. The man’s jaw and nose were broken and he is currently hospitalized being treated for the injuries he suffered at the hands of the 44 year old rapper/actor.

Nicki Minaj Upset With Critics-Mariah Carey Upset With Nicki!!!!

Nicki Minaj is having one heck of a week! After cancelling several shows due to damaging her vocal cords, Minaj sent a firestorm of tweets to her criticizers.

“I was in jeopardy of losing my voice entirely and needing surgery on my vocal chord If u can’t understand that, your mother’s a WHORE!!!! I will NOT let you people make me feel horrible for a f– HEALTH issue! That’s what got me in this mess! I shldve (should have) listened 2 the doctor!”

As if that drama weren’t enough, reports surfaced Friday that rapper would join Mariah Carey as one of the judges on American Idol. *cues hissing cats* Well, Mariah did not like that too well as she was led to believe she would be the only woman on the panel. Not only is Nicki younger than the 42 year old diva, but Nicki is experiencing superstardom where Mariah is just, simply put aging. There are claims that Mariah is pissed with Fox about the whole situation but there have not been any official statements released. Just this morning, Nicki released a picture of her new perfume “Pink Friday”. The name plays obviously off the success of her freshman album and tour (which ended yesterday). The bottle is a silhouette type of image of Minaj, completely Barbed out with a pink wig, pink lip stick and iced out Nicki Minaj chain.

Mark Cuban Won't Retire Jason Kidd's Jersey!

Owner of the Dallas Mavericks Mark Cuban isn’t too happy the decision Jason Kidd made to go with New York Knicks instead of coming back to Dallas. Cuban decided not to retire Kidd’s jersey in the stadium, though Kidd help the Mavs to a title to years ago. Kidd was offered a similar contract by the Mavericks organization and according to Cuban it was the way that Kidd handled the decision which Cuban considered an act of backstabbing. Cuban had this to say:

"I was more than upset, I thought he was coming (back). I was pissed. J-Kidd's a big boy, he can do whatever he want. But you don't change your mind like that. I'm sure I'll get over it at some point, but as of right now, I wouldn't put J-Kidd's number in the rafters. I like J-Kidd, He's a good guy. But I just thought that was wrong. You can't put a guy's number in the rafters when he decides he doesn't want to be there."

Chicago Bears own Brandon Marshall ends up at number eight on most lists banking on the fact that Marshall will have an offensive explosion following being paired with former Bronco QB Jay Cutler. Michael Vick Hurt Again

It’s not a great start to pre-season for the Philadelphia Eagles and its quarterback Michael Vick. The 1st pre-season game Vick injured his thumb while passing the ball, now last night against the New England Patriots where Vick got sacked and injured his ribs. Though the Eagles won the game, Vick will have a MRI and CT scan today. Vick had to sit out 3 games in the last two seasons because of his ribs. With Vick's sore ribs, this not only leaves a question mark of his availability for the rest of pre-season, but for the start of the regular season.

More Tax Troubles for Lauryn Hill

Man when it rains it pours. Former Fugees member Lauryn Hill has gotten hit with more tax woes this time from the state of New Jersey. Along with her already hefty bill of $1.8 million in back taxes, she’ll owe an additional $446,336 in unpaid back taxes from 2007. In June, Hill was charged of failing to pay federal taxes for the years 2005, ’06, and ’07. She had pleaded guilty and faces up to three years of jail time. She’s scheduled to be sentenced in November. Keep Ya head up Ms. Hill!

Soxs Lost, Cubs Lost

Last night wasn’t a good night for Chicago baseball teams. The Chicago White Soxs suffered a sweep against the Royals losing last night’s game 2-5. This is the 1st time since 2003 the Royals swept the Soxs. They are starting against the Yankees tonight where the Soxs have lost 6 straight home games to the Yankees. Bears Robbie Gould Saves the Day!!

The Chicago Bears played their second pre-season game here at Soldier Field on Saturday night. The Chicago Bears fans had a great look at the offense the Bears had to offer, including the star quarterback Jay Cutler. For the time being in the game, Culter looked far from rusty. He led scoring drives on three of his four possessions. One of the highly expectations was seeing how well the reunited duo, Culter and Brandon Marshall, will play. They didn’t let down, Marshall had a 41-yard gain along with a 20-yard gain. The Bears had a nail-biting ending. After giving up a huge lead it was the kicker Robbie Gould giving the Bears their 1st pre-season win by kicking a 57-yard field goal. Bears won against the Washington Redskins 33-31.

Although you may not know who they are, more than likely you’ve caught yourself singing one of their infectious hooks in the shower. Or….possibly in your car, you’ve had your jam cranked up to the max singing so loud they could hear you in at least five or six blocks away. Chicago’s homegrown Da Internz seemingly appeared out of nowhere and have set the production world on fire. We all know that Chicago has musical talent with musical roots dating back to Chess Records, so the fact that we have Da Internz making musical hits should not be a surprise. Marcos “Kosine” Palacios and Ernest “Tuo” Clark have been making music together for eight years and some of their more recent credits include Nas’ “The Don”, Big Sean “A$$” and Rihanna “Birthday Cake.” But don’t count them out as just a hip hop producing duo. They have also worked with pop artists Justin Bieber and JoJo as well. Da Internz stopped by the Global Mixx Music Forum held yesterday in their home city Chicago and dropped tons of knowledge on artists, producers and dj’s. Their upcoming projects include Ludacris’ Ludaversal and Nellys’ latest. If their previous track work is any indication of things to come, these two projects will be something special!

Global Mixx Music Forum 2012: We're In The Business of Networking!!!

There was much to do in Chicago this weekend. Besides the annual Air & Water Show, the Nas and Pusha-T show, there was another big entertainment celebration going on in the city by way of the Global Mixx Music Forum. The project of Mary Thatcher, this is the 4th year the conference has taken place in Chicago. Ms. Thatcher readily admitted she was fed up with the shenanigans and if it had not been for the convincing of Chicago’s own DJ Slugo and the help of the Blok Club DJ’s, the conference would not have happened. Well let us take the time to personally thank Mary Thatcher and DJ Slugo because Chicago is definitely is at a point where the conference is needed. Sunday’s event was the largest and featured three open panels, “Radio Wars: How to Stay Ahead of the Game”, “Artist & Development: Marketing, PR & Image” and “DJ & Producers: Beats, Rhymes, & Hit Makers”. Each panel consisted of different moderators and panelists giving advice and critiquing artists that were there. All the panelists were very receptive to answering all questions-in fact encouraging audience members to flood the mic at one point. Some of the panelists included Windy City Underground’s own JR Bang, ChiBlizz of Power 92, Kyra Kyles of Ebony & Jet, Derrick McKinney of L.O.U.D. Musik, Jameelah Wilks-CEO of Hype Magazine, Tuo of the producing duo Da Internz, Grammy Award Winning Producer Mil Tickit, and DJ Vdub. Moderators included First Lady Khris Raye, Naki the Beatman, Caryn Lee-Midwest Promotions Manager of Interscope Records, and the legendary George Daniels. In fact, there was too much enormity in one room to name! Overall, events like this are necessary in Chicago. All creative people in one room, I can only imagine the greatness that will happen because of the networking that took place at this forum!

Nas Invades Chicago Over the Weekend!!

This past Saturday legendary rapper Nas took over the House of Blues here in Chicago to kick of the 2012 Heineken Red Star Access Tour. Nasty had a packed crowd rocking to the classics and the new joints off his latest album “Life is Good”. Nas wasn’t the only celeb in the house. He had help from G.O.O.D. Music’s Pusha T doing a few songs including his latest track “New God Flow”. The show was hosted by comedian Affion Crockett. The tour will have 5 other dates with other artists included such as Trey Songz, Kendrick Lamar, Rev Run, and more. Big Ups to the legend for tearing down the city and showing love!!

Jigga taps Major Hollywood Directors for new film!

When Jay-Z does something he does it big. Along with the opening of a new arena for his Brooklyn Nets, he’s also heading the “Made in America Festival” taking place Labor Day weekend in Philadelphia. Jigga man will be filming around the whole festival and he tapped Hollywood directors Ron Howard and Brain Glazer. Both have had huge movie hits and excited to work with the Hip-Hop star saying,

Bears Coach Lovie Smith Remains Positive Following Brian Urlacher Surgery

After being unable to control swelling in his left knee, Brian Urlacher underwent a small surgery yesterday. The knee scope surgery was successful and Chicago Bears coach Lovie Smith remains optimistic. He told the Sun-Times that the surgery went smoothly and they’re right on schedule. He maintains that Urlacher will be ready for the opener against the Indianapolis Colts. There is a small possibility that the swelling will return which essentially means the surgery did not work. Let’s all try to remain positive during the waiting game because we all know how much the Bears defense depends on Urlacher.

Evelyn Lozada Files for Divorce From Chad Johnson

Life pretty much sucks for Chad Johnson right about now. Following his arrest and being fired from the Miami Dolphins, Johnson can now add free man to his list credentials. His wife of 41 days, Evelyn Lozada filed for divorce after Johnson allegedly head butted her after a heated argument. Within 24 hours of his arrest, Chad Johnson was released from the Miami Dolphins and VH1 cancelled their reality show Ev & Ocho which was set to begin airing Sept. 3rd. Johnson broke his silence yesterday and released an official statement on his website.

"I am going to let the legal process run its course. I wish Evelyn nothing but the best, I have no negative words to say about her, the only thing I can say is I love her very much. I will continue to be positive and stay training hard for another opportunity in the NFL. I appreciate all my fans and supporters and if I have disappointed you in any way, you have my sincerest apologies. Once again I will continue to stay positive and appreciate all the support during this tough period in my life,"

he said.

Derrick Rose Update!

Derrick Rose may have to change his name to Hercules-demi God. According to numerous reports, Rose is ahead of schedule in rehab for his knee. Rose was in Chicago Saturday filming for an Adidas commercial near the Chicago River. There were many people at the shoot saying Rose ran with ease! Rose is set to begin stationary court this week. Despite being ahead of schedule, Chairman of the Bulls Jerry Reinsdorf spoke with ESPN 1000’s “Talking Baseball” on Saturday and said there will not hasten Derrick’s return.

"I'm not going to let him back until the doctors tell me that it's absolutely safe for him to come back. I made that mistake with Michael Jordan years ago where I think we let him come back too soon. It worked out OK, but it might not have. This time I'm not going to make that mistake. Until the doctors say he's 100 percent and they put their reputations on the line, he's not coming back."

All signs point to Rose having a productive return.

Urlacher says He'll be ready for the opener

Chicago Bears linebacker Brain Urlacher has been missing a lot of practices including the pre-season opener against the Denver Broncos this past Thursday. Urlacher met with the press to clarify the reason why he missed recent practices and talk about the progress with his knee. He stated “September 9, I’ll be ready to play for sure.” He told the press that the recent absences have been because of a personal matter but assured that his knee was getting better. He participated in the first round of practices, but after that he felt soreness in his knee and it began to swell. The Bears are giving him as much time as he needs, not rushing him back on to the game. He is likely to miss the upcoming pre-season game at home this Saturday against the Washington Redskins.

Chad Johnson Released From Jail After Being Released From The Dolphins!

The football player formerly known as Ochocinco was released from prison this morning. Chad Johnson was arrested Saturday night after allegedly head butting his wife of one month, Evelyn Lozada. Johnson was arrested after police saw the lacerations on Lozada’s forehead. The 34 year old wide receiver claims the marks were made when they accidently bumped heads. Evelyn called the police from her neighbors home after they got into a heated argument when she confronted Johnson after she found a receipt for condoms. As if staying in jail over the weekend weren’t enough, the Miami Dolphins decided Sunday to cut Johnson from their team. Chad Johnson was released this morning on a $2500 bond.

Bears Suffer Embarassing Loss During First Preseason Game

The Chicago Bears suffered their first loss of the season, that is if you consider the preseason part of the season. None of the starters had any playing time which led to a debilitating loss agains the Denver Bronco’s 31-3. Without key players such as Jay Cutler, Brian Urlacher, Brandon Marshall, Matt Forte, and Julius Peppers, the Bears pretty much gave the Bronco’s the game. The next up on the Bears preseason schedule are the Washington Redskins on the 18th at Soilder Field.
