John Witherspoon Another Victim of Fake Twitter Death
Last night, all of twitter was a buzz when out of nowhere rumors began circulating about the death of John Witherspoon. Witherspoon, 70, also known as Pops, took to Twitter to confirm the fact he had not died.
The rumor even had made its way to Pops Wikipedia page which had listed his date of death as 8/9/2012. There were barrages of tweets from Witherspoon’s celebrity friends saying that the actor in fact was not dead and pleading with people to stop spreading the rumor.
Witherspoon, who was at the Ft. Lauderdale Improve Club, had fun with the hoax and saw his Twitter followers more than double in less than an hour. Check out Witherspoon’s hilarious tweets below. Let this be a lesson to all of us. While we’re not all journalist, please check with a verified source before you start spreading rumors about someone’s death.
